Ten Truths About Teaching with Technology

thingsforteachers:

1.  Teaching WITHOUT technology is just not acceptable any longer.  Can you imagine …

Teaching IS a technology. And so are schools. And reading. And writing. And books. And language. Technology did not begin with online learning, or the Internet, or computers, or electricity, or the steam engine, or agriculture. Technology is every kind of human communication, interaction, representation, and activity that shapes our culture and our world.

"a global gathering of ideas" … Do what?

If you sponsor an event that you bill as “a global gathering of ideas” … then why are 89% of your presenters white, male, middle-aged, English-speaking, westerners? (And I would guess, married and heterosexual).

Glad to know y’all still got a lock on all the “ideas.”

The visual rhetoric of global environmentalism vs. global corporatization.
Imagine how bad the disaster would be if the tidal surge from an early season hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico pushed the gulf oil spill onshore. Hurricane season begins June 1, and late May storms are not unusual. They usually originate in the gulf (instead of the Atlantic or Caribbean) and so give little warning.
